VIJAY Scored a record double ton and destroyed Warriors in Ugadhi Cup League.
Challengers lived upto their expectations by thumping Telugumates in Semifinals
Vijay Selvaratnam smashed a blistering 238 off 92 balls as Challengers produced its highest ever score 356 to beat Warriors by 238 runs on Saturday at Deakin Oval.
Challengers skipper Khaleel won the toss and elected to bat first in a slippery conditions.
Batting a daunting wicket, Challengers pulled off a slow start by losing Abhi when he tried to pull an outside the offstump ball giving a skier to surya.
Warriors came up with a specific plan to control vijay with bodyline and bouncing the ball by keeping fielders at deep square and fine leg.
Warriors tried to frustrate vijay but the more they frustrated vijay the more he scored by hitting 23 sixers and 14 fours, highest ever in Australia’s Social cricket in all formats.
Suresh and vijay had a record partnership of 214 runs. Warriors greats surya, Mahesh, Kush, Ravi,Raj, sushanth and tanweer had a nightmare for their bowling figures where they all tried to restrict vijay.
Vijay was scoring in all directions of the ground with ease , he batted with a cool head during his marathon innings. On the other side Challengers wall, suresh gave him nice support and batted sensibly without giving his wicket.
Vijay broke his previous best 163 with 16 sixers at melba against Kingfishers in 2008.
Sharath made a quick 21 with two sixers and a four ,at the end challengers posted an unrealistic and unwavering total of 356.
Later, tired warriors came into bat with mammoth expectations on Kush and shushanth but they both could not survive before ruthless challengers attack.
Opening bowlers shiva,chaitu and Abhi swung the ball in both directions where warriors could not play for the swing.
Abhi bowled an exceptional swing by taking wickets of Mahesh and Suresh where they both could not read the inswinging orb’s and got bowled.
Kush gave a healthy edge to keeper kumar in shiva’s genuine outswing. Sushanth could not resist in sharath’s teasing line and gave an edge to kumar.
Rest of the tail tried to resist but could not complete the allotted 30 overs.
It was a great innings from Vijay , I don’t think no one have the calibre to play that type of innings except vijay

It was a slow wicket initially ,i took my time to settle in , they bowled a good line and tempted me to play to fielders, but i prefer playing top of them, I was talking to myself to stay cool and to hit the odd ones out. “Man of the match vijay said

We tried what ever we can, we had a good attack, we had plans to control him, but none of them went in our way, extrodinary innings from vijay, nothing much we can do when a player is hitting shots like that. “Warriors chief spokes man said
"Whatever the wicket or conditions, making 238 is difficult and unrealistic. The manner in which he batted, he (vijay) outclassed us. Credit to him," Pasham srinivas said.
DAY2: Challengers lived upto their expectations by easily winning over Telugumates.
On a beautifull and sunny day Challengers batted first, with Challengers Wall suresh making a half century.
All the top order vijay,Khaleel,sharath,Kumar,Abhi contributed and towards the end sameer and ShivaG played sensibly to post a challenging total of 202.
Mates openers Bhave and Chaitanya Maroju made a steady start and looked positive with bhave coming front foot in the second over to hit chaitanya over the top of mid off but just missed off vijay's wonderfull effort with single hand.
Mates openers gave signs to attack from the start. Bhave played a cross bat off Abhi ,tried to go over the top of midon this time and Manohar took a fantastic catch at short mid widwicket.(Highlight of the match)
Chaitanya was the next to go off Chaitu madadi's inswinging orb, where he could not read the line and lost his off wicket.
Mahesh could not read Abhi's magic line and got bowled in his first delivery.
The rest of the TM batsmens struggled to resist and the boys had that beer way before the expected time.
